Join us in High Point for a panel discussing the legacy of William Morris, the 19th century British designer regarded as one of the most influential figures of the Arts and Crafts movement. Founded in 1861, Morris began his home furnishings company with hand block-printed wallpapers, heavily inspired by the flora and fauna surrounding his home in the English countryside. Over the next 150 years, Morris & Co. has stayed true to the founder’s core values of artisanal design and sustainable practices, and has garnered a reputation as an prolific British heritage brand.
Hosted by Michael Parry from Style Library (the official home of six iconic British brands: Morris & Co, Sanderson, Zoffany, Harlequin, Scion and Anthology), we will discuss how Morris’s beliefs and aesthetics are of growing importance to the current design community. A panel of designers will also share how Morris & Co has kept his legacy alive through the continuous reinvention of pattern and application, with Style Library’s in-house wallpaper and fabric designs, to the recent fashion collaboration with H&M, and this spring through the launch of the Morris & Co furniture, lighting, and wall décor collection from Selamat. Joining us for the panel is Shannon Davis, Selamat Designs’ co-owner and creative director ; Helen Webster, Style Library’s licensing director; and Danielle Fennoy, interior designer and founder of NY-based design firm Revamp.
